First Line Network Engineer

Our client is a British multinational logistics, supply chain, manufacturing, and consultancy company based in Oxfordshire.
With operations spanning Europe, North America, Australia, and Japan, our clients operate across various sectors, including automotive, retail, technology, and rail.

Your New Role

As a First Line Network Engineer, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our network infrastructure. Your responsibilities will include managing and troubleshooting network issues via the helpdesk, adhering to established Service Level Agreements (SLAs). You’ll interact with customers and internal stakeholders to promptly resolve networking issues, log and track incidents using a ticketing system, and maintain the monitoring system for timely detection and resolution of network device issues. Additionally, you’ll handle alerts related to access points, VPN tunnels, firewalls, and device resources. Effective time management and collaboration with team members to escalate and resolve complex issues will be essential. Regular site audits will ensure network infrastructure integrity and compliance with established standards. Attending team meetings will allow you to contribute to ongoing projects and enhance network performance and security.


What You’ll Need to Succeed

  • Certification: Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).
  • Experience: Proven track record of managing and troubleshooting network issues.
  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in firewalls, routing, switching, and wireless technologies.
  • Preferred Knowledge: Familiarity with Fortinet firewall, Cisco/Aruba Switching, and Cisco/FortiAP wireless systems.
  • Troubleshooting Skills: Ability to read logs and packet captures effectively.
  • Infrastructure Review: Experience identifying end-of-life devices, expiring certificates, licencing, and firmware versions.
  • Change Management: Familiarity with change management processes and documentation.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills for interactions with customers and internal teams.

Desirable:

  • Additional Certifications: CompTIA Network+ or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP).
  • Monitoring Tools: Experience with network monitoring tools.
  • Cloud Networking: Familiarity with cloud networking technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure).
  • Security Knowledge: Understanding of network security practices and protocol
