Confidential (Large UK insurer).
Your new role
My client is seeking an experienced pricing or reserving practitioner to take up the role of Portfolio Manager. The focus of the role will be on Marine, but there is no requirement to have Marine, or London Market / Specialty Lines experience. All backgrounds are OK, as they can train the incumbent in the line of business.
It’s a unique opportunity where you’ll get a holistic view of all areas of the business relating to the business line (pricing, reserving, UW, finance, claims etc). You’ll drive performance through improved insights, support, and challenge business areas / individuals, manage performance, and be central to all areas, bringing stakeholders and insights together, understanding and translating impacts on the business.
If you are looking for something different where you will have the platform to promote your own brand and get yourself known within the company (peers and stakeholders), then this could be for you. The long-term career opportunities are broad for whoever takes up this unique role.
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered, you will have previous experience of pricing or reserving. As mentioned above, they will consider someone who has London Market, Commercial or Personal Lines experience. Actuarial exams / qualifications aren't essential for the role (although advantageous).
Due to the nature of the role, excellent communication skills and being able to build relationships with stakeholders is a must.
You’ll be highly numerate, and have the ability to look at sets of data and be able to tell the story. A good level of excel skills is also required.
What you'll get in return
The base salary is up to £85k with an excellent benefits package, and they have hybrid working with the expectation of 3 days in the office as you’ll have lots of interaction with the business regularly.
