R&D Engineer

Your New Role
As an R&D Engineer, you will be responsible for managing and supporting research and development activities across the business. You will play a key role in identifying new technologies, developing technical solutions, and ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and in line with business objectives.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Conducting research and evaluation to develop practical technical solutions to engineering challenges
  • Managing R&D activities to ensure delivery in line with project timelines
  • Identifying and reporting on emerging technologies relevant to current and future projects
  • Planning and carrying out development and validation activities, including testing and technical reporting
  • Working to detailed technical specifications across a range of projects
  • Collaborating with procurement and supply chain teams to optimise cost efficiency and innovation
  • Carrying out supplier technology benchmarking to support product development
  • Supporting prototype design of gauges and systems for various applications
  • Producing technical reports for internal and external communication
  • Assisting with troubleshooting and performance analysis at shop floor and service levels
  • Maintaining strong communication across design, project, manufacturing, and service teams
What You’ll Need to Succeed
To be successful in this role, you should have:
  • A third-level qualification in Engineering (design-focused discipline preferred)
  • Experience in a research, development, or design engineering environment
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Technical skills:
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel
