Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly capable finance leader to provide critical cover and support during a period of organisational rebuilding. This role requires someone who can operate confidently at Head‑of‑Finance level, offering both strategic insight and hands‑on leadership to ensure stability, continuity, and high performance across the finance function.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide senior leadership cover, with the capability to step into the Group Finance Director role when required.
- Oversee and support the finance team, including close collaboration with four management accountants (one of whom will be newly recruited).
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including the organisation’s shareholders and primary customer.
- Produce accurate and timely monthly management accounts for the Group.
- Support compliance and reporting across HMRC areas including VAT, PAYE, and Corporation Tax.
- Contribute to the development of the 2026/27 budget and the organisation’s five‑year business plan.
- Support the implementation of new commercial contracts with key partners.
- Play a key role in shaping and delivering a new systems strategy, covering both Finance and HR systems.
- Ensure processes are fully documented, standardised, and systemised to strengthen operational resilience.
- Drive the transformation of the finance function so it operates efficiently, supports the wider business effectively, and is robust enough to withstand the departure of any single team member.
Candidate Profile
- A seasoned finance professional with experience operating at or near Head‑of‑Finance level.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, support, and develop a multi‑disciplinary finance team.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, ideally with experience working alongside public‑sector or large institutional partners.
- Proven experience in financial planning, management accounting, and HMRC compliance.
- Comfortable working in a changing environment and contributing to organisational transformation.
- Systems‑savvy, with experience improving or implementing finance and HR systems.
- Highly organised, process‑driven, and committed to building a resilient finance function.
