Hays is proud to partner with a forward-thinking Local Council to recruit a skilled Data Analyst for a pivotal interim role. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the strategic transformation of the council’s traded services' portfolio, helping shape the future of its commercial operations. As a key member of the team, you will play a central role in analysing financial and commercial data, supporting business monitoring, and driving improvements in internal reporting and trading systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of a new trading database and corporate data analytics.
  • Analyse financial and commercial data across various trading services.
  • Support business monitoring, capital project tracking, and development planning.
  • Design and implement improved trading systems and reporting processes.
  • Produce and present performance analysis to senior management and elected members.
  • Ensure accurate and timely data collection across complex trading operations.
  • Promote commercial awareness and deliver training on data recording and reporting.
  • Standardise data and validate trading results across service areas.
  • Contribute to strategic planning through insightful data and reporting.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience in data analysis, within local government or large public sector organisations.
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen, with hands-on experience using Oracle.
  • Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with complex data tables and financial systems.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to present complex data effectively.
  • Proficiency in creating dashboards, charts, and reports to support decision-making.
