About us

The Holy Family Catholic High School, situated in Carlton, serves a wide geographical area of North Yorkshire, the East Riding of Yorkshire and Thorne near Doncaster. Founded in 1967, the school continues to provide an authentic Catholic education in a context where every child is known as an individual and offered high quality care and encouragement to achieve their full potential.

The school has a strong reputation locally and is oversubscribed year on year. We are proud to be the first choice preference for families who seek an all-round, inclusive and personalised education for their children. A particular feature of our school is the Enhanced Mainstream Provision for pupils with communication and interaction difficulties that has an outstanding reputation locally for the quality of its SEND provision.

The Holy Family Catholic High School was judged to require improvement at its most recent inspection in June 2017. Whilst disappointed with this judgement, the school accepts that it is an accurate reflection of Holy Family based on its 2016 outcomes. However, the school has a new Headteacher, with a proven record of bringing about rapid and sustained improvement in provision and outcomes for pupils and she has brought a new focus and energy to the school.

We are a dedicated, committed and ambitious staff team motivated by the desire to be outstanding in the service of our pupils. Our 2017 outcomes show that our improvement journey is very much on track with strong improvement evident across a range of indicators that now compare favourably with national figures. We are particularly pleased that the proportion of pupils achieving the new grade 9 in English Language and Maths is well above the nationally reported figures.

Our staff benefit from weekly training focused on the planning and delivery of outstanding pedagogy and practice. The opportunity to work with colleagues within a coaching triad ensures staff can develop their skills and expertise within a developmental and supportive context.

So, if you are passionate about making a difference to lives of young people; believe strongly in inclusive provision that welcomes and caters for all; are sympathetic and supportive of our Catholic ethos and want to be part of an ambitious and motivated team, then you could be just what we are looking for.
