Our staff

At Ark Chamberlain, staff wellbeing is a priority and we encourage rest and relaxation for our staff. This includes leaving before 5pm on a Friday, not answering emails outside of work hours. We value our staff because we know that it is only with their commitment and hard work that we will take our school back to outstanding.

In-school support

Teaching staff currently have one day per week PPA with planning being done in year groups. Teaching during this time is covered by specialist teachers including music, science , art and PE. Planning is supported by subject specialist network leads from the Ark network – as well as colleagues from our other Birmingham primary schools.

Network-wide training

As part of Ark's network of schools, Ark Chamberlain staff benefit from training for their whole career. This includes weekly CPD sessions, a tailored CPD programme for each teacher, twice as many training days as standard, network-wide training days and conferences, and network opportunities (either to work with people from different schools, or even take a lead on developing subject training for the whole network).

Further details about our training opportunities can be found here

In-school support

Our school has a supportive staff community; group meetings and planning sessions all enable teachers to collaborate and help one another. Hard work is celebrated communally at Ark Chamberlain, with staff nominations for a ‘colleague of the week’. Recognition is key to making our school a truly rewarding place to work.

Staff Quotes

“CPD is one of the best things about Ark. It is incredible compared to normal primary schools. It’s a huge focus. A lot of our staff go on training. There’s NPQML for middle leaders and 3 of the Heads of Year are going on that.” - Katie Francome, Assistant Vice Principal at Ark Chamberlain Primary Academy.

“I have a couple of friends who are teachers, and I’d definitely recommend the school to them. There is a real focus on the community aspect of the school, and on teamwork.” - Fred Mitting, Year 6 Teacher and NQT+1.

"The reason why I love working in Ark Chamberlain is simple really: great children who work really hard and great staff who also work really hard to help the children be the best that they can be." - Mr D. Coyne (SENDCO), Ark Chamberlain Primary Academy.
