We are seeking an experienced and confident senior leader to step into an interim Deputy Director role within our clients Estates/Capital Projects function. This appointment will provide essential leadership and continuity while they recruit their new permanent Deputy Director.

Your new role

In this pivotal position, you will take strategic and operational responsibility for both the Projects team and the Space Management team. You will ensure strong oversight, clear direction, and continued delivery of key initiatives during a period of transition.

Working closely with senior stakeholders across the institution, you will:

Provide leadership to capital, estates, or strategic projects teams
Ensure effective governance, prioritisation, and risk management
Drive progress across major programmes and estates-related initiatives
Oversee space planning, utilisation strategies, and related optimisation work
Maintain stability, clarity of purpose, and high performance across the teams during onboarding of the permanent deputy

What you'll need to succeed

We are looking for a senior professional with:

Extensive experience leading complex project portfolios, ideally within higher education, public sector, estates, capital, or organisational transformation environments
A proven track record of senior leadership, influencing, and stakeholder management
Strong understanding of project governance, reporting, and delivery frameworks
The ability to quickly build credibility and provide steady, effective leadership in a fast‑paced environment
A proactive, solutions‑focused approach and the ability to navigate ambiguity
