Relocate to Australia and work on a major underground rail system in a rapidly growing city.
Step into one of Australia’s most ambitious transport infrastructure programs and help shape the future of Brisbane’s rail network. This is an exceptional opportunity for engineering leaders in the UK and Ireland looking for a lifestyle change, long-term stability, and the chance to influence a major underground rail system from the inside.
Your new role
You will lead the development and management of asset management support systems for underground rail assets across the project. This includes risk, governance, assurance, and systems engineering across the full lifecycle.
You will lead the development and management of Asset Management Support Systems for the operation and management of underground rail systems-related assets requiring close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to ensure delivery meets Rail Transport Operator requirements.
Responsibilities
- Develop and manage best‑practice asset systems, including standards, specifications, and procedures for safe and efficient operation.
- Lead assurance activities to ensure the underground network is safe, reliable, and compliant.
- Oversee configuration and governance frameworks, including Railway Integrity Assurance Plans and Reports.
- Drive systems engineering across the project lifecycle — requirements, specifications, concept of operations, validation, and assurance.
- Shape technical solutions, modelling and evaluating options to balance technical and business needs.
- Implement technical management, including risk, planning, and configuration control.
What you'll need to succeed
- Strong leadership and the ability to set strategic direction in complex engineering environments.
- High-level communication skills for managing technical and professional services.
- Extensive knowledge of metro-style rail systems — especially tunnel ventilation, platform screen doors, and system interfaces.
- Deep understanding of governance, risk, and compliance in rail infrastructure.
- Experience integrating complex technical issues into business-focused outcomes.
- A Bachelor of Engineering
What you'll get in return
- Work on a major underground rail system in a rapidly growing city.
- Influence long-term operational outcomes for a flagship national project.
- Join a values-driven organisation that emphasises safety, collaboration, and innovation.
- Enjoy a balanced lifestyle with sunshine, space, and a strong engineering community.
Why Move to Brisbane?
- A warm, outdoor lifestyle with beaches, national parks, and a thriving city culture
- Lower cost of living compared to London, Dublin, and other major UK/Ireland cities
- Strong engineering and infrastructure sector with long-term career pathways
- Relocation support is on offer, along with sponsorship via the 482 VISA pathway.
