Lead the future of sustainable building services design. A leading UK-based consultancy is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their growing team. Your new role

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you’ll lead mechanical design across multiple projects, acting as the primary liaison with external design teams. You’ll be responsible for delivering high-quality design packages, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring seamless coordination across disciplines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead mechanical engineering design and coordination on multiple projects.
  • Produce design packages including drawings, specifications, and technical schedules.
  • Conduct thermal load calculations, dynamic modelling, and carbon emissions' analysis.
  • Liaise with contractors, manufacturers, and utility providers.
  • Ensure compliance with building regulations, British Standards, and CIBSE guidelines.
  • Attend site visits and client meetings to ensure design intent is met.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to internal knowledge sharing.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in mechanical/building services engineering.
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or related field.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, IES, and ideally Revit/BIM tools.
  • Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and sustainability in design.
  • Familiarity with CDM regulations and environmental design principles.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
  • Working towards chartership with CIBSE or IMechE.
