The Role:
As a handy person, you will work closely with the Site and Facilities Manager and the operations team to ensure the smooth running of the academy's facilities. Your responsibilities will include:

- Overseeing general security, maintenance, and safeguarding of the school premises and grounds
- Performing general labouring duties such as portering, grounds upkeep, joinery, plumbing, electrical works, and minor project supervision
- Reconfiguring furniture and equipment in classrooms, meeting rooms, and social spaces according to standard layouts or specific requirements
- Setting up equipment for internal and external events, training sessions, and meetings
- Installing and removing signage across the academy
- Distributing parcels, packages, and IT consumables to relevant departments
- Assisting with building maintenance and reporting any faults to the Site & Facilities Manager
- Undertaking supervisory duties of learners during start and finish times, and during breaks
- Supervising the completion of academy PPM's and site compliance checks across the entire site
- Assisting colleagues and managing on-site storage, work areas, and waste systems
- Providing weekly reports and attending meetings with the Site & Facilities Manager on team progress and status
Requirements:
- Ability to work in accordance with good health & safety and manual handling practices
- Experience is H&S training - fire plans, risk assessments etc
- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to meet deadlines
- Attention to detail, highly organised, and efficient approach to tasks
- Ability to respond effectively to reactive work requests and work independently
- Previous experience in security, estates/facilities, and front-line customer service (advantageous)
- A can-do attitude, proactive problem-solving skills, and a passion for continuous improvement
- Willingness to undertake health and safety training, including manual handling principles and practice
- Ability to work flexibly to meet the requirements of the role
- Suitable physical fitness level, as the role may involve significant manual handling activities at times
