About the Role
A Batley High School, in partnership with Hays Education, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Trauma & SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our team for a long-term placement. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people by providing emotional and educational support in a nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one support for students experiencing trauma or emotional difficulties.
  • Assist teachers in creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.
  • Implement tailored strategies to help students manage behaviour, build resilience, and engage in learning.
  • Work closely with pastoral staff, SEN teams, and external agencies to ensure holistic support.
  • Encourage positive relationships and promote student wellbeing across the school community.
Requirements
  • Experience working with trauma, counselling, or mental health in an educational setting.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust with young people.
  • Relevant qualifications in counselling, psychology, or teaching support (preferred but not essential).
  • Resilience and empathy to support students through challenging circumstances.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
