Busy Local Government organisation seeks Clerk of Works to oversee utility projects

Your new company

Our client is an Edinburgh-based Local Government council with a busy set of developments ongoing across their area of operations. Their roads and infrastructure team is seeking to appoint an experienced Clerk of Works with a deep understanding of utilities to manage and oversee a range of contractors working on these projects.

Your new role

As Clerk of Works, you will work as part of their roads and infrastructure team which oversees a range of development projects across their area. As their "utility" specialist, you will be reviewing and checking any work for these developments. From overseeing telecoms and network providers to working with water and electrical companies, you will ensure works are planned and completed in line with design and regulatory standards. This role will be mobile and remote in nature and will involve regular site visits across their council area. You will be in the office regularly, but a significant amount of work will be conducted on the move!

What you'll need to succeed

Our client is seeking an experienced construction professional with a solid understanding of utility construction and management. Perhaps you are from an engineering background and have worked for a contractor or provider and are now seeking to apply your experience in a different way. This would suit someone seeking a more flexible work pattern and someone who doesn't mind working independently. As it is a mobile role, you will need to have a full driving licence and access to your own vehicle.

What you'll get in return

Our client is a busy local government council with ambitious development plans for the next 5 to 7 years and this role has the potential to be an ongoing long-term contract position. A competitive rate and expenses will be paid to the right candidate.
