Contract Opportunity – Warehouse Operative – Perth – 12 months
About the role:
As a Warehouse Operative with expertise in warehouse operations, you will collaborate with the Operations and Production teams. You will be responsible for picking, packing, and handling stock efficiently while ensuring safety, quality, and process compliance within the warehouse environment.
Job Details:
- Location: Perth – Onsite - PH1 3FX
- Shifts: Monday – Friday, 08:00 – 16:30
- Pay Rate: £13.20 per hour
- Contract Duration: 12 months
- Hours: 40 hours per week
- Start Date: ASAP
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Follow and maintain safety, quality, and operational standards within your work area
- Conduct Safe 4 Work and Safe 2 Start checks before beginning work
- Use SAP to check stock and process customer orders
- Pick and pack UK and export orders with minimal supervision
- Prepare raw materials and packaging for production departments
- Take responsibility for personal and team health & safety
- Identify and report hazards (minimum 4 hazard cards annually)
- Flag errors or issues immediately to the Senior Operator
- Follow all trained operating procedures and systems
- Actively participate in performance reviews and act on feedback
- Contribute to shift (Tier 1) meetings and team discussions
- Support team members and management to build a strong, efficient team
- Work towards achieving higher operational performance levels
Working Conditions:
- Warehouse environment with varying temperatures (up to 60% in cold rooms at ~2°C)
- Manual handling including lifting items up to ~7.5 kg
- Prolonged standing/walking (up to 12 hours)
- Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and twisting
- Pushing/pulling carts up to 125 kg and pallet trucks up to 500 kg
- Occasional outdoor work (e.g., truck loading)
- Repetitive tasks in a fast-paced environment
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications / Skills
- Ability to follow processes accurately
- Reliable and dependable
- Strong communication skills (team collaboration & feedback handling)
- Willingness to learn warehouse operations
- Ability to identify errors/issues within processes
- Basic education (minimum 4 standard grades, ideally including Maths)
- Computer-literate
Desirable Skills:
- Counterbalance Forklift Truck Licence
- Previous warehouse or logistics experience
- Experience using SAP or similar systems
