A transport organisation committed to delivering the highest standards of safety, performance, and customer service is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager to join its dedicated Safety function. With safety embedded throughout the culture, the organisation promotes trust, respect and collaboration, striving to continually raise standards across all areas of operation.
Your New Role
As the Health & Safety Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining and improving the organisation’s safety management systems. Reporting to the Head of Safety, you will oversee risk assessments, audits and safety performance, ensuring compliance with legislation, internal policies, and industry requirements. You will support strategic safety initiatives, influence positive safety behaviour, and provide guidance across all levels of the business.
What You’ll Be Doing
In this role, you will:
- Lead and conduct risk assessments, safety audits and inspections
- Drive continuous improvement in safety culture and processes
- Oversee corrective actions and ensure timely close ‑ out
- Maintain document control for standards, legislation and internal procedures
- Produce regular safety performance reports and trend analysis
- Support external audits and investigations where required
- Ensure staff competence in safety ‑ critical roles and monitor ongoing training needs
- Represent the organisation at meetings on safety matters
- Support annual Safety Plan development and monitor compliance
- Champion safety initiatives and promote best practice across the organisation
What You’ll Need to Succeed
To be successful, you will bring:
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification and/or CMIOSH status
- Strong experience in a relevant safety ‑ focused role (transport sector desirable)
- Experience conducting audits and risk assessments
- Excellent communication, engagement and motivational skills
- A proactive, energetic approach with the ability to influence and drive change
- Strong understanding of safety legislation and safety management systems
- The ability to work collaboratively and challenge unsafe behaviours confidently
