Junior Transport Planner

Your new company

Hays are working with a well known business in Shropshire who are looking to recruit on a permanent basis/ We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Junior Day Planner to join our fast-paced transport team. You will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of a busy transport office, managing a fleet of 60+ vehicles. This position requires strong organisational skills, excellent IT proficiency, and the ability to thrive under pressure while making confident decisions.

Your new role


As a Transport Planner your role will involve:
  • Assist transport planners with daily route scheduling and optimisation for a fleet of 60+ vehicles.
  • Ensure all collections and deliveries are completed on time and in full compliance with driver hours regulations.
  • Monitor and update transport schedules, addressing any changes or disruptions promptly.
  • Liaise with the in-house customer service team to resolve delivery issues and maintain high service standards.
  • Maintain accurate records and data entry within transport management systems.
  • Support the team with administrative tasks and reporting as required.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Strong communication and decision-making skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent IT skills, including proficiency in transport planning software and Microsoft Office.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in data handling.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Knowledge of driver hours and compliance regulations (desirable but not essential).
