Town Planner (Development Management), 6+ month contract available in Glasgow

Your new company

A busy local authority has an immediate opportunity available for an experienced Town Planner within their Development Management team. This position will be an ongoing temporary contract, with the option to work remotely from home on a hybrid basis 2–3 days per week. There will be a high volume caseload, mostly comprising householder and local development applications.

Your new role

Working as part of a small development team and reporting to the Principal Planner, you will be tasked with processing a high volume of planning applications, particularly householder applications, and providing planning advice on planning issues with any given development. You will be responsible for ensuring applications received are assessed under relevant local and national planning legislation in accordance with statutory obligations, policies and good practice. You will be required to develop effective working relationships with development partners, consultants and the internal teams involved in successful project delivery and will have a keen understanding of the development process as a whole.

What you'll need to succeed

In order to be considered for the role, you will need an RTPI accredited (or equivalent) undergraduate or postgraduate qualification, and be eligible for full RTPI membership. Ideally, you will have 2 or more years' post-qualification relevant experience of Town Planning, Development Management or related work in complex urban environments, and a detailed understanding of the Scottish planning system.

What you'll get in return

You will be offered a long-term contract opportunity (approx 6 months) within a vibrant local authority's Development Management team. The hourly rate for this post is negotiable, dependent upon your experience, but will be in the region of £27.50 - £30 per hour PAYE.

As mentioned above, there may be some flexibility on the working hours to suit those seeking a part-time position. Please contact me on the details below if you would be interested in discussing your options.
