Manufacturing Technician – 12-Month Contract

Job Title: Manufacturing Technician
Reports To: Team Lead Location: Loughborough
Working Hours: Shift-based, 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM, 4-day work week

Position Overview
This role involves working within a manufacturing and packing team, primarily focused on chemical production. The technician will be responsible for following established procedures to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operations across various production areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with team members to manufacture and pack chemical products.
  • Follow documented procedures to produce chemicals and complete associated records.
  • Collect samples for analysis and adjust batches based on results.
  • Perform pre-fill checks, fill finished goods, and conduct quality inspections.
  • Support end-of-line packing operations as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, contributing to 5S initiatives.
  • Conduct routine safety and quality inspections, including calibrations and area checks.
  • Assist with raw material ordering and picking.
  • Participate in daily planning and workflow organisation.
  • Record transactions using internal systems.
  • Liaise with engineering teams to report and follow up on equipment issues.
  • Understand and manage hazardous materials and compatibility risks.
  • Contribute to COSHH and risk assessments as part of a team.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE at all times.
  • Be flexible to work across different production areas and departments as needed.
  • Meet departmental performance targets and KPIs.
  • Uphold company values and policies, including ethical conduct and workplace dignity.
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant quality and environmental standards (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 14001).

Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum education: GCSE or equivalent.
  • Willingness to work variable shifts.
  • Basic proficiency in IT tools (e.g., Excel, Word).
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Essential Criteria
Candidates must meet the following requirements to be considered:
  • Prior experience handling chemicals, such as in a packing or quality control role. (On the job training provided)
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions in English.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and task execution.
