Hays is proud to partner with a leading Organisation in their search for a Senior Estates Team Leader to join their dynamic Estates & Facilities department. This is a pivotal role for a mechanically biased professional who’s passionate about driving service excellence and leading from the front.


️ The Role
As Senior Estates Team Leader, you’ll be responsible for the Supervision and task allocation of a skilled in-house maintenance team across a diverse hospital estate. You’ll ensure the delivery of safe, efficient, and compliant building and engineering services, while supporting the Estates Manager in achieving departmental goals.
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong technical acumen, particularly in mechanical systems, and the ability to guide and motivate a multi-trade workforce.


Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise Estates Maintenance staff across the Trust’s sites.
  • Allocate and monitor Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive tasks via the FM system.
  • Provide expert fault diagnosis and technical support on complex engineering systems.
  • Manage minor capital works and improvement projects, liaising with contractors and internal teams.
  • Maintain compliance with Health Technical Memorandums (HTMs) and Trust safety protocols.
    • Conduct audits, inspections, and ensure high standards of workmanship.
    • Act as a key contact for plant and equipment failures, coordinating remedial actions.
    • Support recruitment, training, and development of new team members.
    • Participate in on-call duties and emergency response outside normal working hours.

    What You’ll Need to Succeed
    • A strong mechanical background with relevant qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND).
    • Proven experience in building services maintenance
    • Demonstrable leadership and team management skills.
    • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
    • Familiarity with HTMs and Estates Permit to Work systems.
