Runcorn. SEN, Year 3 EAL and ASD. Long-term full-time contract starting September 2025.

Your new company

Hays Recruitment are proud to be working in partnership with a Runcorn-based single-form entry primary school as they are looking to appoint an experienced and reliable teaching assistant to support a pupil in the year 3 class on a 1:1 basis. This is a full-time long-term contract starting on 1st September 2025 that will last the entirety of the academic year.

Your new role

As a teaching assistant within this school, you will support a pupil within the year 3 class on a 1:1 basis, acting as their main point of contact throughout the school day. Your new pupil has an EHCP, has EAL (English as an additional language) and is currently going through a SEND assessment process for ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder). You will build a strong constructive relationship with your new pupil by taking an interest in their key interests and associating them with key learning material. You will offer speech and language interventions to build their understanding of the English language as well as phonics interventions and fresh start, which will also ensure that they are able to access the full curriculum, reach their academic potential and integrate into new pupil groups. As they are undergoing an ASD diagnosis, you will also be required to closely monitor key trigger points, accurately record said triggers, and implement positive behaviour strategies that they best respond to, i.e., sensory circuits, brain breaks, DOJO/reward charts, and positive reinforcement.

What you'll need to succeed

To be considered in your application you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK as well as recent referenceable classroom experience, as well as:

  • Experience supporting SEN (ASD and EAL is advantageous)
  • Experience delivering basic SALT and phonics sessions
  • An NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification

What you'll get in return

If you are successful in your application, you will receive the full support, dedication and guidance of a senior DfE accredited recruitment consultant, as well as a wide range of benefits that include:

  • Free training
  • Upfront cost of DBS covered
  • Competitive rate of pay
  • Company pension scheme
  • Full holiday entitlement
  • Long-term contract
  • Access to exclusive vacancies
  • Refer a Friend scheme
