Teaching Assistant – SEND & SEMH | High School | Lancaster | September 2025 Start
Are you an experienced and compassionate Teaching Assistant looking to support young people in a high school setting?
We are currently recruiting on behalf of a forward-thinking and inclusive secondary school in Lancaster for a Teaching Assistant to work with students who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a long-term opportunity starting in September 2025, with the potential to become permanent.
Your new role
Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEND and SEMH needs
Assist in delivering tailored interventions and learning strategies
Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCOs, and external professionals
Help create a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment
Monitor student progress and contribute to review meetings and reports
What you'll need to succeed
Experience supporting students with SEND and/or SEMH in a secondary school or similar setting
Confident, resilient, and empathetic approach to behaviour and emotional support
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 TA, Youth Work, Psychology, or similar) are advantageous.
