Your new company

Hays Recruitment are proud to be supporting a Chester-based single-form entry primary school as they are looking to appoint a motivated and experienced teaching assistant to support a pupil within the year 6 class on a 1:1 basis. This is a full-time long-term contract attached to funding and the pupil staying at the school.


Your new role

As a teaching assistant within your new school, you will be supporting a Year 6 pupil on a 1:1 basis, acting as their main point of contact throughout the school day. This pupil has SEN and a diagnosis of ASD with speech and language requirements. You will work closely with the SENCO to ensure that the EHCP is met and maintained as required. You will take a pupil-centred approach to learning as to ensure that your pupils' needs, both academic and physical, are at the heart of all operations. You will also be required to implement specific speech and language interventions. Throughout the academic year, you will introduce your pupil to new pupil groups, aiding in their social and emotional development and equipping them with later life skills. Towards the latter end of the school year, you will also assist with SATs preparation.


What you'll need to succeed

To be considered in your application you must have full "Righ to Work" in the UK as well as recent relevant referenceable experience within a classroom environment, as well as:

  • Experience supporting SEN (ideally ASD and speech and language requirements)
  • Experience delivering speech and language interventions
  • Having an NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification is advantageous but not required
