Contract Type:Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM

Job Description:We are seeking a passionate and experienced Head of Science to lead a forward-thinking Science department. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality Science lessons across Key Stages 3 to 5, supporting staff development, and driving student achievement. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated leader to make a meaningful impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Science department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and effective Science lessons.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support and mentor Science teachers within the department.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement curriculum strategies.
  • Promote a love of scientific inquiry and discovery across the school community.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • A degree in a Science discipline or a related field.
  • Proven experience teaching Science at secondary level, including KS5.
  • Previous leadership or middle management experience is desirable.
  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for Science.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • All successful applicants will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
