Teacher of English – Secondary School Job - London - HAYS Education

Your new company

Hays Education is working in partnership with a forward-thinking secondary school in London to recruit a passionate and dedicated Teacher of English. This is an exciting opportunity for either an ECT or an experienced teacher to join a supportive English department committed to delivering high-quality teaching and learning.
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching English Language and Literature across KS3 and KS4, with opportunities to teach KS5 for suitably qualified applicants.

Your new role

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured English lessons
  • Teach across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable)
  • Assess, track, and support pupil progress effectively
  • Create an inclusive and stimulating learning environment
  • Contribute positively to the wider life of the school
  • Uphold safeguarding and behaviour policies at all times

What you'll need to succeed

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK (or equivalent overseas qualification)
  • Strong subject knowledge in English Language and Literature
  • The ability to inspire, motivate, and challenge students
  • Excellent classroom management skills
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing
  • ECTs are very welcome to apply
