Head of Art & Technology - Secondary School Job - Enfield - September 2026

Your new company

Hays Education are working in partnership with a forward-thinking secondary school in North London to recruit an ambitious Head of Art & Technology. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a dynamic department within a school that values creativity, innovation, and high-quality teaching and learning.

Your new role

As Head of Art & Technology, you will lead the strategic development and delivery of a broad curriculum across Art, Design Technology, and related creative subjects at KS3–KS4, with the potential to support KS5 provision.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Leading and managing the Art & Technology department, including staff development and performance
  • Designing and implementing an engaging, creative and skills-based curriculum
  • Driving student attainment and engagement across practical and creative subjects
  • Overseeing resources, facilities, and health & safety within specialist areas
  • Promoting creativity and enrichment opportunities, including exhibitions and projects
  • Contributing to whole-school improvement and raising the profile of creative subjects


What you'll need to succeed

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Strong experience teaching Art, Design Technology, or a related subject at secondary level
  • Previous leadership experience or readiness to step into a leadership role
  • Passion for creative education and raising student aspirations
  • Strong organisational, communication, and leadership skills
