Your new role

We are recruiting for a dedicated Year 1 teacher to join the school for the duration of the spring term. This full‑time position offers the opportunity to take responsibility for a Year 1 class, delivering high‑quality teaching and learning while working closely with two Year 1 teaching colleagues. The role includes planning, teaching, and assessment, supported by a strong year‑group team and the wider school community.
In this role, you will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons that build early literacy, numeracy, and confidence
  • Create a nurturing classroom environment where children feel safe, motivated, and ready to learn
  • Teach the KS1 curriculum with creativity, adapting to meet diverse learning needs
  • Establish clear routines and behaviour expectations that promote independence and respect
  • Collaborate with fellow Year 1 teachers to share planning and ensure consistency across the year group
  • Contribute to wider school initiatives and celebrate the progress of every child

What you'll need to succeed

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and recent experience teaching within Key Stage 1, ideally Year 1
  • Strong knowledge of the primary curriculum and confidence in planning and assessment
  • A flexible, supportive teaching style with effective behaviour management strategies
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a large team
  • Availability to start in January and commit for the duration of the spring term
