Head of Finance - Leicester

Are you a strategic finance leader ready to take ownership of a high-impact Head of Accounts role? I’m working exclusively with a well-established organisation in Nottingham to recruit a commercially astute and technically strong Head of Accounts. This is a pivotal role, offering real scope to influence financial strategy and operational excellence across the business.

Your new role

As Head of Accounts, you’ll lead the finance function with responsibility for strategic planning, financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance. You’ll manage a capable team, oversee payroll and pensions, and ensure robust financial controls are in place. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading long-term financial planning and cashflow forecasting
  • Managing accounts receivable/payable and payroll functions
  • Producing monthly management accounts and financial statements
  • Driving budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis
  • Ensuring compliance with VAT, Corporation Tax, and audit requirements
  • Enhancing financial systems and controls, including Sage and banking processes
This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll work closely with senior stakeholders to support business growth and financial sustainability.

What you'll need to succeed

You’ll be a qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with proven experience in a senior finance role. Strong people management, analytical skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving are essential. You’ll also bring:

  • Expertise in Sage and Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of payroll and pension schemes
  • Experience in preparing audit packs and liaising with external auditors
  • A high level of integrity, reliability, and attention to detail

What you'll get in return

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a forward-thinking organisation where your input will be valued and your career can flourish. You’ll benefit from a supportive culture, competitive salary, and the chance to make a real impact.

What to do next

If you’re ready to take the next step in your finance career, I’d love to hear from you. Apply today or contact me directly for a confidential discussion.
