Your new company

You’ll be joining a leading Tier 1 civil engineering contractor recognised for delivering major infrastructure schemes across the UK. This organisation has a strong presence in complex civil engineering, including highways, structures, marine, energy, and large multi‑disciplinary projects. Known for their collaborative culture and long-term project pipeline, they offer the chance to work on high-profile schemes in Scotland on their roads and highways contracts.

Your new role

As Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial management of live civil engineering projects focused on roads/highways, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the commercial aspects of NEC contracts (primarily Options A, C & E)
  • Preparing and submitting valuations, cost reports, and forecasting
  • Administering subcontract packages, including procurement and management
  • Supporting change management, compensation events, and early warnings
  • Ensuring accurate cost control and budget tracking
  • Liaising closely with project delivery teams and clients
  • Preparing final accounts and ensuring contractual compliance throughout the project lifecycle
This is a hands-on, delivery-focused role with exposure to their flagship Scottish civils framework and a supportive management team.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Experience as a QS within civil engineering (structures, highways or general civils)
  • Strong understanding of NEC contracts
  • Ability to prepare accurate cost forecasting and commercial reporting
  • Confident in subcontract procurement and management
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
  • A proactive approach to problem‑solving and commercial risk management

What you'll get in return

  • Competitive day rate outside IR35
  • Opportunity to work on major infrastructure contracts with a top-tier contractor
  • Opportunity for ongoing work.
