Your new role
As the Programme Manager (Community Engagement), you will play a pivotal role in enhancing our engagement with residents, ensuring their voices are central to the planning and execution of the Capital Delivery programme. You will develop and implement effective engagement strategies that empower residents and maximise social value through our supply chain. You will be an expert in ensuring concepts of resident engagement and co-design are translated into operational outcomes for the Capital Delivery programme, where there are a high volume of projects that impact on residents' day-to-day lives.
- Lead the design and delivery of comprehensive community engagement strategies.
- Collaborate with the Programme Manager (Capital Delivery) to integrate community perspectives into all capital projects.
- Support the Social Value Manager in enforcing Social Value Plans across the programme.
- Manage and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of accountability and service excellence.
- Engage with a broad range of Council teams and external partners to align with the Council’s goals.
- Act as the strategic lead in developing effective forms of resident liaison and community-based social value delivery.
- Report monthly on engagement and social value activities, ensuring transparency and continuous improvement.
- Lead efforts to transform community engagement practices within the Capital Delivery team.
What you'll need to succeed
- Professional qualification in housing, community engagement, social value, or related disciplines, or considerable experience in a comparable role.
- Proven track record of senior management experience in resident engagement and community development.
- Experience of managing teams and delivering transformation and change with a resident focus.
- Strong knowledge of Co-Design Principles and their practical application.
- Experience in business and service planning, risk management, and complaints handling.
- Ability to build strong relationships with community stakeholders and internal teams
- Understanding of principles associated with Social Value as it applies to public procurement and social housing.
What you'll get in return
You will receive a competitive salary of £75,252.00 to £86,076 plus a generous leave entitlement of 30 days each year plus 8 public holidays, along with a local government pension scheme of 18%. The team you are joining has a great hybrid working system of 3 days in the office and 2 days at home, giving you the flexibility for a great work-life balance. The Council positively promotes homeworking where feasible and balanced against the needs of the wide-ranging services we provide for local residents and communities. The expectation is that officers spend a minimum of 3 days a week in the office / on site, with some variation in working pattern according to the needs of the project.
