Housing Support Worker Vacancy in Coventry - 3-month contract

Your new company

This is a grant-funded team that has been operating for the last 5 years and work both in the community and in temporary accomodation services to support individuals who are or have been homeless. The service is designed to find, engage, assess, support and follow up with people they find who are rough sleepers.

Your new role

This is a dynamic and varied role, working with individuals who have recently gained accomodation having been homeless. You will work with tenants to assist them in managing their tenancy and preventing the risk of losing their accomodation. This will involve ensuring they are receiving the correct benefits and helping with applications when required, making referrals and ensuring rent is paid. Whilst this role is predominantly case load based, you will be required to provide outreach support in the community once a week.

This role is predominantly a Monday to Friday role with work hours being 9am to 5pm unless you are doing outreach, which would then be 6am to 2pm.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you will need to have prior experience of working within the homeless sector and have an understanding of the issues faced by homeless people, which may include people with multiple and complex needs. As you will be working with a variety of people, you will need to have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to listen to and understand people's situations and needs. You will be required to build up trust and rapport with clients and be versatile in your approach, adapting to their needs. You will be required to communicate and work with multiple agencies, so being able to manage partnerships is also essential for this role.

Whilst driving is not required for this role, having access to your own vehicle would be an advantage as the role will involve travelling around the city.

What you'll get in return

Competitive hourly pay
A dedicated consultant who will understand your needs and secure roles for you based on them
Refer a friend scheme
Free training on our online portal
Opportunities to undertake permanent opportunities
