SEN Teaching Assistant - Westminster

We require SEN Teaching Assistants for primary schools in the areas around Westminster. We work with many schools and, therefore, can offer you regular work. By working as a SEN Teaching Assistant, you have flexibility on the days you wish to work, whether that is full-time or part-time. You can also choose if you would like to receive morning calls or to be pre-booked in advance.

About your role as a SEN Teaching Assistant
We are currently seeking candidates for the position of teaching assistant and learning support assistant with a specialisation in SEN. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children with additional needs and a desire to advance their career in education. It would be beneficial for the candidate to have experience working in a child-centred or careful environment. You will work closely with the class teacher and the SENDCO to ensure that the child you are working with is effectively supported, and their targets are met.

Your other responsibilities will include:
  • Recording and reporting a student’s progress to the teacher.
  • Establishing a warm, caring, and supportive relationship with students to help them feel safe and enable them to enjoy and learn during their time at school.
  • Demonstrating a proven ability to work collaboratively within a multi-professional team.
  • Contributing to providing high-quality, challenging, and differentiated educational activities and experiences by supporting the teaching of a broad and balanced curriculum aimed at helping students achieve their full potential in all areas of learning.
  • Supporting the class teacher in all aspects of the day-to-day running of the class.
  • Responding to the varying and changing needs of the school and adapting to any task presented to achieve the smooth running of the school.
  • Promoting students’ cognitive, social, emotional, behavioural, physical development, and spiritual well-being.

    What you will need to succeed
  • Experience working within a classroom setting
  • Good behaviour management and organisational skills
  • SEN experience
  • You must hold a DBS on the update service or be willing to apply for a DBS through Hays
