Ellesmere Port. 1:1 support in Year 5, SEMH. Long-term full-time temporary contract starting September.
Your new company
Hays Recruitment is proud to be working in partnership with a two-form entry primary school in Ellesmere Port that is easily accessible via public transport as they are looking to appoint a motivated and reliable teaching assistant to support a year 5 pupil on a 1:1 basis that has struggled to access the curriculum due to SEMH. This is a full-time long-term contract starting September.
Your new role
In your new role as a teaching assistant, you will play an integral part in the education of a year 5 male pupil. You will act as their main point of contact throughout the school day, meeting them at the school gate and walking them back to their grown-ups at the end of the school day. This pupil joined the school last academic year and has SEMH. They are an extremely loving and bright pupil, but due to previous life experiences, can at present challenging behaviours. Due to this, they have spent a significant amount of time out of the classroom and have fallen behind in their learning. To help support their learning and to ensure they reach their full academic potential, you will work on their emotional intelligence and behavioural support, implementing an array of positive behaviour strategies, working on their mindfulness, building confidence and holding intense interventions in all key subjects to bring them up to speed. In September, they will be mainly supported in a separate classroom due to disruptive and vocally aggressive behaviours presented last year. Over time, with the behaviour interventions you have implemented, you will gradually integrate them into the main classroom, with the aim of full integration towards the latter stages of the academic year.

- An NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification is advantageous but not essential
