Sports Coach/Cover Supervisor

Location: Secondary Schools across Cirencester, Stroud & Swindon

Term Dates: September – December

Working Hours: 8:00am – 3:30p

✒️ Salary: £90 - £150, based on experience


Your new company

Hays Education is recruiting Sports Coaches who are confident stepping into Cover Supervisor roles to work on a temporary, flexible basis across a variety of secondary schools in the Cirencester, Stroud, and Swindon area. As a Hays Cover Supervisor, you’ll have the opportunity to work in different school environments, taking on day-to-day and short-term cover assignments that suit your availability and preferences. This is a great opportunity for those looking to gain classroom experience, build confidence, and make a positive impact in local schools.


Your new role

  • Lead PE sessions and support the delivery of physical education across KS3 and KS4

  • Supervise whole-class lessons during teacher absence, ensuring continuity of learning

  • Manage classroom behaviour and maintain a positive learning environment

  • Deliver pre-prepared lesson plans across a variety of subjects

  • Support students with tasks, encourage participation, and promote engagement

  • Liaise with teaching staff and pastoral teams to ensure student wellbeing

  • Contribute to extracurricular sports activities and school events where appropriate


What you'll need to succeed

  • Experience working with young people in a coaching, mentoring, or educational setting

  • Confidence managing groups of students and maintaining classroom control

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • A flexible and proactive approach to supporting learning across different subjects

  • A genuine passion for sport and education

  • Willingness to travel between schools in the Cirencester, Stroud, and Swindon area

  • Reliable transport (as some schools may not be easily accessible via public transport)

  • An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one
