A primary school in the North Birmingham area is seeking an enthusiastic Sports Coach or PE Teacher to join their team on a long‑term basis. This role is ideal for someone passionate about physical education, child development, and creating positive sporting experiences for young learners.

What the role involves
  • Planning and delivering engaging PE lessons across EYFS, KS1 and KS2.
  • Leading a variety of sports activities that promote teamwork, confidence, and physical literacy.
  • Supporting whole‑school sporting events, competitions, and extracurricular clubs.
  • Working closely with class teachers to ensure lessons meet curriculum expectations.
  • Managing behaviour positively and creating an inclusive, encouraging environment.
  • Assessing pupil progress and adapting sessions to meet a range of abilities.
  • Promoting healthy lifestyles and motivating pupils to stay active.

Why this role is a great fit for teachers and coaches

For qualified teachers:
  • A chance to specialise in PE without the full classroom workload.
  • An opportunity to build confidence in behaviour management and whole‑school routines.
  • A refreshing change of pace, focusing on practical, active learning.
For sports coaches:

  • Experience working within the national curriculum, ideal if you’re considering teacher training.
  • The chance to make a meaningful impact on children’s wellbeing and physical development.

Working in a primary school setting allows you to build strong relationships with pupils, see their progress over time, and contribute to a positive school culture centred on health, teamwork, and enjoyment.

What you’ll need
  • A Level 5 qualification or higher in Sports Coaching, PE, Education, or a related field.
  • Experience working with children in a school or sports environment.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • A proactive, energetic approach to teaching and coaching.
  • An enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
