Teacher of French with Spanish | Secondary School Job | East London | HAYS Education

Your new company

Hays Education are working in partnership with a successful and inclusive secondary school in East London to recruit an enthusiastic and talented Teacher of Modern Foreign Languages, specialising in French with Spanish, for a September 2026 start.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic Languages department committed to developing students' confidence in communication, cultural awareness and global understanding. The school is seeking a passionate linguist who can inspire students to develop a love of languages and achieve excellent outcomes.

The successful candidate will teach French across KS3, KS4 and potentially KS5, alongside Spanish across KS3.

Your new role

  • Teach French across Key Stages 3 and 4 and Spanish across Key Stage 3
  • Deliver engaging and challenging lessons that promote language acquisition and cultural understanding
  • Plan, prepare and assess lessons in line with departmental schemes of work
  • Support students in developing their speaking, listening, reading and writing skills
  • Prepare students for GCSE examinations
  • Monitor progress and provide targeted interventions where necessary
  • Contribute to extracurricular activities, language clubs and international opportunities

What you'll need to succeed

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Experience teaching French and Spanish within a UK secondary school setting
  • Ability to teach French to KS4 or KS5 and Spanish to at least KS3
  • Excellent subject knowledge and passion for language learning
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students of all abilities
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare
