Thriving multi-academy trust seeking a Director of IT to join their growing team across schools in Liverpool.

Your new company

This multi-academy trust has grown over the last 12 months, doubling in size and, with further plans for growth, it is an exciting time to join their team based in Liverpool. The trust currently has eight schools, with three primaries and one large secondary school having joined this year and the trust is therefore focusing on ensuring all schools are fully supported by central services such as IT. Reporting to the Director of Finance, the newly appointed Director of IT will be joining a well-established team, working closely with other senior leaders to ensure a smooth transition into their new role.

Your new role

As Director of IT, you will be responsible for overseeing the IT provision across all schools and the central team, leading a team to ensure that the highest level of support is provided. This is a strategic leadership role, where you will be responsible for the IT strategy, providing technical expertise and also leading a team of 10 IT specialists to ensure they are fully supported and developed. As Director of IT being accountable for the IT strategy, this strategy will include the provision of IT infrastructure, ensuring a strict cyber policy is in place, working closely with SLT and also setting a vision for the coming years which you will then ensure is delivered by the team. On a daily basis, technicians will be providing IT support to end users, both staff and pupils and you will be working closely with them with a focus on Microsoft 365, the integration of new systems such as MI systems and ensuring that all IT projects are successfully delivered by the team. You will have significant technical support from the team, which consists of 2 infrastructure engineers, a technical specialist and 8 technicians, who are all very experienced in providing IT support within the education sector. You will also work closely with the senior leadership team, ensuring individual schools are aware of upcoming IT changes and projects and providing understanding as to why changes are being made. This is an exciting role for an experienced IT leader from the education sector to move into a role which will grow and evolve over time. Please note this role is based in Liverpool and although there is flexibility with hybrid working, there will be weeks when you are on site 5 days a week.

What you'll need to succeed

In order to be successful in securing this position, you will possess significant IT leadership experience, with specific experience working in the education sector, either in a college or trust. Experience of setting up and delivering an IT strategy is essential, as well as being able to demonstrate the successful leadership of an IT team and thus ensuring a high level of IT support is provided.

What you'll get in return

In return, you will be offered a salary of between £51,000 and £53,000 dependent on experience, which will then be reviewed on an annual basis, as well as being subject to annual pay increases. You will receive 28 days annual leave, plus bank holidays and also access to the trust's extensive benefits package including retail discounts and various other benefits. You will be joining an experienced and collaborative team, where you will receive significant support upon joining the trust, as well as the opportunity to further develop your own skills and therefore, your own career.
