About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Technical Solutions Architect to design and deliver innovative, cost-efficient ICT solutions that meet business needs throughout the entire project lifecycle—from understanding requirements to transitioning into BAU support. This is a pivotal role in shaping and delivering technological solutions for the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop enterprise architecture models that are consistent and coherent across projects, ensuring effective reuse of materials.
  • Lead architecture development assignments across projects and programmes, promoting technical innovation and working closely with business and technical stakeholders.
  • Translate business requirements into solution designs, options papers, and implementation assessments aligned with Enterprise Architecture.
  • Support ICT Leads in creating business cases and defining technical requirements and ITT documentation.
  • Act as Technical Design Authority for ICT solutions within the DF Data Management Capability project.
  • Ensure technical functionality goals are met and solutions are seamlessly delivered into production.
  • Advise on governance arrangements for architecture and technology selection, ensuring removal of redundant technologies.
  • Present tactical and strategic benefits of architectural governance to justify investments.
  • Scope and define technical evaluation projects, assessing requirements and recommending solutions aligned with strategic vision.
  • Provide oversight during implementation and participate in post-implementation reviews.
  • Serve as a subject-matter expert for technical delivery, frameworks, methods, and tools.
  • Offer technical expertise and high-level estimates during pipeline planning and initiation phases.
  • Maintain constructive relationships with suppliers and evaluate vendor offerings for ROI and lifetime cost of ownership.
  • Research emerging technologies and assess opportunities for reuse within ICT services.
  • Ensure gradual handover to production, including design and system test documentation, and participate in ITIL service delivery processes.
  • Verify technical quality throughout the project lifecycle and produce documentation for product acceptance.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Degree in a technical discipline or equivalent job experience.
  • Strong understanding of ITIL Service Management principles.
  • Ability to create end-to-end solution designs for new services or solutions.
  • Full lifecycle experience developing architectural views in accordance with frameworks such as TOGAF or Zachman.
  • Expertise in Core Cloud platforms, migrations, architecture design, and security/compliance.
  • Excellent organisational, prioritisation, and time management skills.
  • Ability to present and communicate complex ideas clearly to technical and business stakeholders.
  • Proactive problem-solving approach and strong team collaboration skills.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience engaging with third-party vendors and writing technical content for Tenders/ITT/ITQ.
  • Project management experience (e.g., PRINCE2) to support technical governance.
  • Familiarity with Business Process Modelling, Software Development Testing/Audit strategies, and Technical Authoring.
  • Strong commercial awareness and flexibility in working practices.

Personal Attributes

  • Open attitude towards sharing ideas and mentoring others.
  • Ability to work under pressure and use initiative.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
