Your new role
This Healthcare Solicitor role will see you:
- Manage a caseload of defendant clinical negligence claims from inception to resolution.
- Advise NHS Resolution, NHS Trusts and medical malpractice insurers on clinical negligence and EL/PL claims.
- Provide clear, strategic legal advice on liability, quantum, and procedural aspects of claims.
- Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents including pleadings, witness statements, and settlement agreements.
- Liaise effectively with NHS Resolution, healthcare professionals, and expert witnesses to progress cases.
- Prepare case strategies, including risk assessments and cost management plans, aligned with NHS Resolution protocols.
- Ensure compliance with Civil Procedure Rules and relevant pre-action protocols throughout litigation.
- Attend court hearings, mediations, and settlement meetings, undertaking advocacy where appropriate.
- Maintain accurate file management and billing records in line with firm and client requirements.
- Collaborate with senior solicitors and partners on complex or high-value claims, including group litigation matters.
- Advise on regulatory and risk issues affecting healthcare providers where relevant.
What you'll need to succeed
- You must be a qualified solicitor with 0–4 years PQE.
- Previous experience of NHS Resolution work.
- Previous experience handling your own defendant clinical negligence is beneficial.
- Previous defendant EL/PL experience is desired.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Strong academics.
