Your new role
As a Solicitor in the Housing Legal Team, you will provide expert legal advice on housing management and tenancy enforcement matters, particularly those involving anti-social behaviour. You will handle claims and applications from start to finish, ensuring all necessary work is completed efficiently. Your responsibilities will include:
- Acting as a key contact for housing management and tenancy-related legal advice.
- Supporting the Housing Legal Team and other internal departments with litigation processes.
- Attending court hearings and ensuring thorough preparation for the best outcomes.
- Keeping up-to-date with court procedures, Civil Procedure Rules, and case law changes.
- Providing training on legal processes related to housing management issues.
- Preparing legal documents such as notices, pleadings, and witness statements.
What you'll need to succeed
- Qualified Solicitor, with a current practising certificate, and up to 3 years PQE.
- Knowledge and experience in Housing Law and Homeowner and Tenant Law.
- Experience in a local authority setting or with a registered provider of social housing. Those from private practice will also be considered.
- Strong knowledge of possession proceedings, Civil Procedure Rules, and general civil litigation.
- Experience in drafting legal documents and attending court hearings.
- Enthusiasm for teamwork and the ability to work independently.
- Willingness and ability to travel across a wide area.
What you'll get in return
- Competitive salary of up to £48,000 (depending on experience).
- Flexible working arrangements, including three days at various sites (Birmingham, Oldbury, Hinkley) and two days working from home.
- This is a full-time role, with the possibility of discussing alternative working patterns such as four days a week or three very long days. The position is initially offered on a fixed-term contract, likely extending from 2025 through early 2026, with a slim chance of becoming permanent.
- 25 days holiday, with the option to buy additional annual leave (if on a fixed-term contract).
