Our client is a highly respected professional services group operating at the forefront of insurance, legal and risk services across the UK and internationally. Their legal division is recognised for handling complex, high-value and catastrophic loss claims for major insurer clients and is known for technical excellence, collaboration and genuine career progression. Due to continued growth, they are now seeking a Senior Solicitor to join their Large Loss team in Belfast.
Your new role
As a Senior Solicitor within the Large Loss team, you will work on intellectually challenging, high-value personal injury claims, including catastrophic injury matters. You will support lead lawyers on some of the most complex cases in the portfolio while also managing your own caseload of significant claims.
You will be responsible for running files from instruction to resolution, advising on liability, indemnity, quantum and causation, and working closely with insurer clients and expert witnesses.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced solicitor looking to take the next step in a technically stimulating and supportive environment.
Key responsibilities
- Managing a caseload of complex, high-value Large Loss claims (typically £100k–£250k+)
- Assist Partners on higher-value catastrophic injury and High Court matters, including brain injury, spinal cord injury, amputations and fatal accident cases
- Analysing complex medical, liability and quantum evidence to develop case strategy
- Drafting high-quality technical advice for insurer clients
- Conducting witness interviews, preparing statements and drafting pleadings
- Attending conferences, mediations and joint settlement meetings
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with senior claims handlers and insurer clients
- Mentoring and supporting junior team members
- Ensuring all files are managed in line with regulatory and internal compliance standards
What you'll need to succeed
- Northern Ireland qualified Solicitor
- Proven experience handling Complex Injury or Large Loss claims
- Strong technical knowledge of liability, indemnity and quantum
- Experience analysing medical and expert evidence
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Confidence dealing directly with sophisticated insurer clients
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities
- A calm, proactive and collaborative approach
