Software Engineer - Exciting range of modern tech across public sector organisation. £38-43k

Registers of Scotland (RoS) manages 21 land, property and other legal registers which are a critical asset for the Scottish economy. They aim to provide the best public service for Scotland and are on a mission to make some of the oldest public land registers in the world into some of the most modern.

As part of continued long-term digital transformation they are looking to grow their permanent technology team. They have an immediate requirement for a Software Engineer to join their Digital Services team which currently numbers nearly 200 staff.

You will have an opportunity to work on a wide range of modern technologies and tools;

  • Java/Python

  • JavaScript, Typescript

  • React, NextJS

  • Oracle, Informix, PostgreSQL, PostGIS, MongoDB, RDS, Aurora

  • CI/CD: Jenkins, Artifactory, Docker

  • Deployment Environments: Virtual Machines, OpenShift, AWS serverless

  • IaC: Ansible, CloudFormation, CDK

  • AWS, Azure

The teams also consist of Agile Delivery Leads, Product Managers and User Experience Designers to form modern, full stack, high performing teams.

You will have professional software engineering experience and be able to demonstrate the following skills:

  • develop software to meet user needs.

  • follow best practice guidelines and help to improve those guidelines.

  • write clean, secure, and well-tested code.

  • coach and mentor more junior colleagues

  • operate the services you build and identify issues in production.
