Hospital Social Work Jobs in Birmingham

Your new company

Join Birmingham City Council, one of the UK’s largest local authorities, committed to delivering high-quality services to its community. As part of the Adult Social Work team, you’ll be working in a dynamic hospital setting, supporting individuals at a critical point in their lives and contributing to safe and timely discharges.

Your new role

As a Hospital Social Worker, you will be based within a multidisciplinary team in one of Birmingham’s acute hospitals. Your primary responsibilities will include:
  • Undertaking assessments under the Care Act 2014.
  • Coordinating discharge planning in collaboration with NHS colleagues.
  • Supporting individuals and families through complex decision-making.
  • Ensuring safeguarding principles are upheld.
  • Maintaining accurate and timely case records.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you must hold a recognised Social Work qualification and be registered with Social Work England. You should have experience in an adult social work setting and experience in a hospital would be beneficial. Demonstrating a solid understanding of the challenges and responsibilities involved and utilising a strong working knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Care Act, the Mental Capacity Act, and safeguarding procedures, is essential.

What you'll get in return

In return, you will receive a competitive hourly rate and weekly pay of up to £28 per hour based on experience. A full induction will be given and support throughout the assignment, giving you the opportunity to learn and develop. You will be working directly in the community, making a real difference in the lives of Birmingham residents.

Registering with Hays will mean you will have a dedicated recruitment consultant and candidate care partner, meaning full support and contact will be available.
