Adoption Social Worker, permanent, Southend, Essex

Southend-on-Sea City Council are looking to appoint a permanent, full-time, adoption experienced Social Worker.
Part of this exciting position is to recruit, assess, and support prospective adopters, to ensure that the care that they provide meets the needs of the individual child. Additionally, they will family find and work in post-adoption support.

The candidate will provide efficient and cost-effective social work services to children, young people, and their families. Developing a practice which takes a holistic view of the individual, locating them in both their immediate and extended social circles, and having full regard for the child's education, social, recreational, and health needs. Also, ensuring that investigations, enquiries and assessments are completed to a high standard, including care and adoption plans.

Within this position, hybrid working opportunities are available. However, you are required to be on-site at the Civic Centre a minimum of 2 days a week.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this position you must be able to work in the UK, have a recognised Social Work qualification and be registered with the Social Work England and have completed your ASYE.
You will need to have two years' experience of working within an adoption service and have a working knowledge of adoption regulations.
You must have the ability to build relationships, have worked directly with children, especially those where permanency was the plan. Produce clear, well-written and analytical assessments and possess a positive attitude so that you are able to adapt to the pace of change.
You will need strong communication skills and be able to organise yourself and others.
In addition, you must have a driving licence and have use of a car.
