Transport Supervisor - Portbury

Your new company

You'll be joining a leading logistics and supply chain business that has grown to become a national player in the industry, offering a wide range of services across many sectors.


Your new role

As a Transport Supervisor, you will lead and manage a team of drivers, porters, and administrative staff to ensure the transport operation runs smoothly and efficiently. You will be responsible for delivering exceptional customer service and providing support to both colleagues and clients in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

You'll be based out of Portbury, which is one of the smaller sites, meaning it's a great opportunity for someone to step up and grow into the role.


Main responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage transport operations, ensuring delivery teams operate efficiently and effectively.
  • Perform daily tasks such as route planning, resource allocation, and driver supervision.
  • Communicate effectively and provide support to the delivery teams.
  • Maintain team morale through engagement and regular one-on-one meetings with key employees.
  • Address transport-related issues in the warehouse department.
  • Assist the Transport Manager with recruiting, training, and coaching delivery teams.
  • Update and complete spreadsheets, documents, and systems.
  • Maintain communication with internal departments, suppliers, managers, and stakeholders.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, demonstrating commitment, work ethic, and professionalism.
  • Support employee investigations, return-to-work processes, welfare meetings, and disciplinary actions.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Experience and knowledge of the logistics supply chain.
  • Understanding of vehicle movement, associated activities, and compliance.
  • Familiarity with relevant driving legislation, including tachograph policies, driving hours, and the Road Traffic Act.
  • Line management experience.
  • Proficiency in using IT and technology.

What you'll get in return

  • A salary up to £35,000
  • Any 5 from 6 days per week working pattern, with shift patterns of 4:30 - 13:30 or 12:30 - 21:00
