Site Manager Needed – High‑Security Prison Project, Long-Term Contract

Your new company

You’ll be joining a well-established main contractor delivering a high-profile security project within HMP Long Lartin, Worcestershire. The organisation is overseeing the construction of a new overhead anti‑drone structure, part of a nationwide initiative to enhance prison security and prevent contraband drops from above. This project is long-term, strategically important, and offers stable freelance work within a secure, highly regulated environment.

Your new role

As the Freelance Site Manager on this project, you will oversee the day-to-day management of construction activities within a live prison setting. You’ll coordinate subcontractors, manage site safety, ensure compliance with all prison protocols, and maintain the programme for the installation of the new overhead restriction structure. The role mirrors a typical site management position (SMSTS, CSCS, First Aid essential) but requires an additional level of resilience, diplomacy, and strong leadership to operate effectively in a high‑intensity, fast‑paced custodial environment.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Valid SMSTS, CSCS (Manager level) and First Aid
  • Previous experience working on prisons, MOD, or other high-security sites
  • Ability to manage a busy workload under pressure in a high‑volume environment
  • Strong, confident personality with a professional and diplomatic approach
  • Experience supervising subcontractors and ensuring high standards of quality.
  • Willingness to undergo (or already hold):
    • Prison Clearance / HMP Vetting
  • Excellent communication, resilience, and authority when dealing with diverse teams

What you'll get in return

  • Competitive day rate: £250 – £350 per day (Umbrella)
  • Monday to Friday working pattern
  • Minimum 3‑month contract with strong potential to extend up to 2+ years
  • Opportunity to work on a unique, nationally significant security project
  • Experience within a challenging and rewarding custodial environment
  • Long-term stability and continuity for the right candidate
