Are you a forward-thinking mechanical engineering professional with a passion for sustainability, innovation, and lifecycle design and a background in mechanical design and retail? We’re looking for an Associate Design and Standards Mechanical Manager to lead the development and continual improvement of engineering design standards across a diverse and complex property estate.
About the Role
This is a high-level position responsible for driving engineering excellence, compliance, and innovation across all business units. You’ll act as a subject matter expert in mechanical engineering, influencing design specifications, construction methods, and sustainability strategies. The role is pivotal in translating strategic goals into tangible engineering outcomes that support long-term value and environmental responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and governance of mechanical design standards and specifications.
- Drive lifecycle value and sustainability through engineering innovation.
- Act as a change agent, embedding compliance and continual improvement across property functions.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external consultants to deliver engineering excellence.
- Champion low-carbon and net-zero solutions in line with corporate sustainability commitments.
- Sign off on quarterly updates to engineering standards and associated documentation.
What We’re Looking For
- A Chartered Engineer (or working towards registration) with significant experience in mechanical engineering within property or construction.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Proven ability to manage complex projects and drive change across multidisciplinary teams.
- Deep understanding of compliance, lifecycle modelling, and sustainable design practices.
- Experience working with external consultants and managing engineering governance processes.
