Site Engineer - Cumbria - Major Highways Project

Join a leading name in the UK Civil Engineering sector and a key player in infrastructure delivery and take the lead on a range of exciting current and upcoming infrastructure projects across Cumbria. Delivering one of the UK’s most significant infrastructure upgrades – the A66 Northern Trans-Pennine project. With a project value of £120 million, this scheme will transform connectivity across the North of England. We are seeking an experienced Site Engineer to lead the successful delivery of this major highways scheme based in Penrith.
Your new role :
- Set out and survey works in accordance with project drawings and specifications.
- Ensure quality control and compliance with technical standards.
- Assist in the preparation of method statements, risk assessments, and site documentation.
- Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, and the wider project team to ensure smooth site operations.
- Maintain accurate site records, including daily diaries and as-built information.
- Support the resolution of technical issues and contribute to design coordination.
- Promote and uphold health, safety, and environmental standards on site.
What you'll need to succeed :
- Previous experience in a Site Engineer role on highways or major infrastructure projects.
- Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Strong understanding of setting out, surveying, and construction methodologies.
- Familiarity with National Highways standards and procedures is advantageous.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- CSCS card and relevant site certifications.
