Lead a high-performing server infrastructure team and spearhead business-critical digital operations for a major organisation in Northern Ireland.
- Salary: £47,810 – £54,710 per annum (pro rata)
- Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Role Overview
Are you a proven IT leader ready to drive operational excellence in infrastructure management? We are seeking a proactive IT Operations Service Manager to oversee the day-to-day delivery of critical server infrastructure services.
In this role, you will champion service quality, lead a talented engineering team, and steer infrastructure and virtualisation deployment projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Framework Compliance: Maintain absolute service integrity following ITIL, ISO 9001, ISO 20000, and ISO 27001 standards.
- Team Management: Mentor, support, and upskill a dedicated team of IT infrastructure professionals, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
- Technical Leadership: Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for enterprise Unix and Windows server environments, storage, and databases.
- Project Delivery: Plan, resource, and execute small to medium-sized IT infrastructure programmes and upgrades.
- Disaster Recovery: Formulate, maintain, and test high-availability ICT business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
- SLA & Vendor Management: Collaborate closely with third-party suppliers, internal stakeholders, and governance groups.
Candidate Requirements
Experience & Qualifications
To be considered for this position, you must meet one of the following pathways:
- A university degree or professional IT qualification, plus at least 3 years of experience managing ICT technical support within a large, complex organisation (defined as 200+ staff or a £50m+ budget).
- At least 5 years of relevant ICT technical support management experience within a complex organisation (no degree required).
Technical Specialist Knowledge
You must possess hands-on expertise and deep technical knowledge in at least four of the following infrastructure domains:
- High-Availability Systems: Enterprise-grade Unix and Windows cluster environments.
- Server Virtualisation: Advanced management of platforms such as VMware, IBM pSeries, or Hyper-V.
- Unix Administration: Direct experience supporting AIX, HP-UX, or RHEL (Red Hat Enterprise Linux).
- Windows Server Management: Full-stack administration of enterprise Windows Server ecosystems.
