Are you an experienced Configuration Management professional looking to take ownership of a large‑scale CMDB and drive real transformation? We’re looking for a Senior Configuration Manager to lead the end‑to‑end management, governance and continual improvement of our Configuration Management capability across a complex multi‑supplier environment.
This is a role working with one of the largest Government bodies in the UK who are going through a huge period of growth,
In this key role, you will be responsible for shaping and delivering the Configuration Management strategy, ensuring our CMDB is accurate, trusted and fully embedded into IT service delivery. You will work closely with internal teams and external suppliers to ensure data quality, strengthen governance, and enhance the value of configuration data in supporting operational, compliance and business objectives.

Your new role

  • Leading the development, operation and improvement of the Configuration Management framework, policies and standards
  • Managing the lifecycle of all Configuration Items (CIs) and ensuring updates are accurate and timely
  • Overseeing and assuring supplier activity across Service Asset & Configuration Management
  • Driving the evolution and maturity of the CMDB, including data models, population approaches and integration of multiple data sources
  • Leading CMDB audits, identifying discrepancies, and coordinating corrective actions
  • Managing Service Impact Maps and reporting on configuration data to stakeholders
  • Reviewing and approving proposed changes to CIs
  • Supporting the design and implementation of service maps and dependency modelling
  • Championing best practice and continual improvement across the CMDB and SACM processes

What you'll need to succeed

  • Extensive hands-on experience managing and maturing a CMDB within ServiceNow, including ITOM Discovery, Event Management and Service Mapping
  • Experience implementing and improving CSDM (Common Service Data Model)
  • Strong background in ITIL-based processes with ITIL v4 Foundation (or higher)
  • Solid understanding of infrastructure and networking components
  • Experience working in multi-vendor or complex organisational environments
  • IT Asset Management (ITAM) Foundation certification (mandatory)
  • Confident communicator with excellent stakeholder and supplier management skills
