Your new company

Due to the partnership between Hays and Birmingham City Council, we are seeking a resilient and highly organised Senior Administrative Officer or paralegal to support the work of Coroners Investigators and Coroners Officers. This is a vital role requiring discretion, attention to detail, and the ability to manage sensitive information with professionalism and care.


Your new role

The role involves responding to and actioning requests from Coroners Investigators and Officers, often relating to complex cases and inquests, including those proceeding to court. Responsibilities include preparing and proofreading court bundles to ensure strict compliance with data protection and confidentiality standards, as well as managing documentation and workflows through the Coroner’s case management system. The successful candidate will liaise with a range of professional parties and bereaved families with empathy and professionalism, while also supporting the legal and procedural aspects of inquest preparation.

What you'll need to succeed

The ideal candidate will have proven senior administrative experience, preferably within a legal or public sector environment, and a strong understanding of data protection and confidentiality protocols. They will possess excellent proofreading and document management skills, and be comfortable working with sensitive and potentially distressing content. Resilience is essential, along with strong interpersonal and communication abilities. The candidate should be capable of working independently while also contributing effectively as part of a supportive team.

This is a full-time, temporary job based in Birmingham. This is a rolling contract, Grade 4 position, with the rate of £19.64 (PAYE), paid on a weekly basis.
