  • Providing high ‑ level fire engineering consultancy advice to internal design teams, external partners, and clients.
  • Undertaking complex modelling work (such as smoke modelling and evacuation modelling) depending on your experience.
  • Reviewing work produced by junior engineers and contributing to their technical development.
  • Delivering technical input across multidisciplinary design teams throughout all RIBA stages.
  • Supporting site inspections, due ‑ diligence reviews, audits, and fire safety assessments.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement of fire engineering processes, quality systems, and best practice within the team.
  • Playing an active role in supporting business growth through client engagement and project excellence.

This role offers the opportunity to work on high ‑ profile, technically challenging projects where advanced fire engineering solutions are central to overall design.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

To thrive in this role, you will bring:

  • Chartered status with a relevant professional body (e.g., CEng with the Engineering Council via IFE, SFPE, or similar), or be actively working toward chartership with clear evidence of progression.
  • A degree in Fire Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Significant experience delivering fire engineering design and strategy within a consultancy or construction environment.
  • Strong knowledge of fire engineering principles, building regulations, British Standards, and relevant industry guidance.
  • Experience producing fire strategies, fire engineering reports, and technical design documentation.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly to clients and stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, problem ‑ solving, and report ‑ writing abilities.
  • Experience supporting or mentoring junior fire engineers.

The following would be beneficial:

  • Experience with fire modelling tools such as CFAST, FDS, Pathfinder, or equivalent.
  • Experience working across multiple building sectors, particularly higher ‑ risk or complex structures.

What You’ll Get in Return

In return, you will join a consultancy that offers:

  • A competitive salary and extensive benefits package.
  • Funded training, CPD, and full support toward achieving or maintaining chartership.
  • Clear professional development and progression opportunities.
  • Flexible working arrangements (where appropriate).
  • Exposure to high ‑ profile, technically complex projects across multiple sectors.
  • A supportive and forward ‑ thinking team environment that values innovation and technical excellence.
