A leading multidisciplinary consultancy is seeking an experienced Senior Fire Engineer to join its expanding fire engineering team. The organisation delivers specialist fire engineering expertise across a diverse portfolio, including commercial, residential, education, healthcare, and public ‑ sector projects. You will be joining a technically strong, collaborative team within a consultancy known for quality, innovation, and professional excellence.
Your New Role
As Senior Fire Engineer, you will take a lead role in the development and delivery of complex fire engineering strategies. You will support major design projects, mentor junior engineers, and act as a key technical authority within the fire engineering discipline.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the development of fire engineering strategies in line with legislation, British Standards, and industry best practice.
- Producing detailed fire engineering reports, fire strategy drawings, evacuation analysis, and technical documentation.
- Providing high ‑ level fire engineering consultancy advice to internal design teams, external partners, and clients.
- Undertaking complex modelling work (such as smoke modelling and evacuation modelling) depending on your experience.
- Reviewing work produced by junior engineers and contributing to their technical development.
- Delivering technical input across multidisciplinary design teams throughout all RIBA stages.
- Supporting site inspections, due ‑ diligence reviews, audits, and fire safety assessments.
- Contributing to continuous improvement of fire engineering processes, quality systems, and best practice within the team.
- Playing an active role in supporting business growth through client engagement and project excellence.

What You’ll Need to Succeed
To thrive in this role, you will bring:
- Chartered status with a relevant professional body (e.g., CEng with the Engineering Council via IFE, SFPE, or similar), or be actively working toward chartership with clear evidence of progression.
- A degree in Fire Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Significant experience delivering fire engineering design and strategy within a consultancy or construction environment.
- Strong knowledge of fire engineering principles, building regulations, British Standards, and relevant industry guidance.
- Experience producing fire strategies, fire engineering reports, and technical design documentation.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly to clients and stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, problem ‑ solving, and report ‑ writing abilities.
- Experience supporting or mentoring junior fire engineers.
The following would be beneficial:
- Experience with fire modelling tools such as CFAST, FDS, Pathfinder, or equivalent.
- Experience working across multiple building sectors, particularly higher ‑ risk or complex structures.
